Marks of Great Commission People

Romans 15: 14-24

…thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written,

“Those who have never been told of him will see, And those who have never heard will understand.” (Rom 15:20-21)

Great Commission people are:

Focused:  It’s critical that we keep focused on the most important things amid the many

good things that vie for our attention, energy and resources. (vv14-16)

Aware:  Paul wants us to be aware of the reality that missions - introducing the nations to

Jesus – is an act of worship to God. (v16 & 19)

Christ-centered:  The point here is that in all we do we remain Christ-centered and that

all the credit – all the praise and glory goes to him alone. (vv17-19)

Gospel-centered:  We must never lose focus of the centrality and nature of the gospel.

 (vv19b-20)

Urgent:  The point here is being consumed with the task of taking the gospel to those

who have never heard the name of Jesus. (vv20-24)

Participating:  The call is each person – every member of the church - doing their part to

see that this mission progresses and the nations are reached. (v24)
