- Read Ephesians 1:3-14 together. What does it reveal about the Spirit’s role in light of the role of the Father and the Son?
- Read Ephesians 1:15-23 together. How does Paul understand the role of the Spirit in shaping the believer’s life toward what is revealed in Revelation to John? What is our role in pursuing this vision, according to this Ephesian prayer?
- How should this “seal” change our day-to-day identity in real and tangible ways? Why is an understanding of this “seal” crucial for discipleship and spiritual formation? How does it provide safety in light of God’s wrath?

How do these passages help believers understand what all it means to live in light of that day? How does our focus on that day work to make us sober-minded and what difference should that make in our lives within this broken world?

- How do we guard against the threat of the brokenness and suffering of this life to overcome us or to take our focus off God and his eternal purposes? What is the function of the body in that for us?

- What strikes you most about the picture of Jesus that we see in Revelation 5, and why?

- What does this paradoxical image of a lamb who is both slain and standing communicate about the person and work of Jesus? How should we respond?
