  1. Read the sermon passage again.
  2. Write a prayer of response, guided by the sermon passage. (May include adoration, confession/repentance, thanksgiving, petition, etc.).
  3. Write your selected portion of the Scripture several times to aid in memorization.

  1. What obstacles or fears might you have to overcome in order to break through with someone in sharing the gospel with them? Or even having a spiritual conversations?
  2. Do you view evangelism as a part of a lifestyle? Why or why not? Do you think we need to view it in this way?
  3. What have you found effective in sharing Jesus with others in the past?

  1. What insights have you had while internalizing this week’s passage?
  2. How specifically will you seek to apply its truths in your home/workplace/life in general?

  3. What is your reaction to the inevitable opposition to living out this mission? What causes you the greatest difficulty or fear?

  1. Read 9:35-37 together. In light of the passages over the past several weeks, what stands out to you about these few summary verses? Would you describe the people in our own culture in the same way?
  2. Read 9:38 together. Spend some time praying in accordance with this statement together. Pray for (1) your church leaders as they follow God’s call to lead his people, and (2) All of us to respond to the call for ‘laborers.’
  3. Spend some time praying together for Demcer and Magali, and their boys, Jose and Mattias. Thank the Lord for his faithfulness demonstrated in their lives and ministry, and for their family and church to flourish in the days ahead.

Spend some time this week, either with your family or with your group (or both!) simply praying, slowly, through this prayer.

  1. In reflecting on the three areas of authority presented in Sunday’s message, write a response statement for each using this sentence: “Because Jesus has absolute authority & power over _______, I should…” Be prepared to share your statements with your group when you gather together.
  2. How should those watching our lives come to learn of the absolute power & authority of Jesus? In what ways might you be distorting that message?
  3. What about any or all of these 3 very well known stories continues to captivate you concerning the person of Jesus? How do the reactions of others in the stories instruct us in how we ought to respond?
